| PURPOSE: Responsible for obtaining and testing samples as required to support the Moncks Corner Operation. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Perform analytical testing on compounded materials in a timely fashion and communicate results to appropriate personnel. -Obtain and perform analytical tests on in-process solutions. -Conduct analysis of materials using analytical instrumentation (FTR, UV/Vis, GC or AA). -Prepare and perform tensile testing on in-process and compounded latex for their physical characteristics. -Test finished goods for physical and chemical properties following standardized procedures. -Maintain complete log of test results in compliance with GMP. -Perform special test or duties as assigned by the QA Lab Supervisor or QA Manager. -Perform equipment calibrations at designated intervals using standardized procedures. -Maintain proper housekeeping according to established procedures. -Observe proper safety and chemical hygiene procedures. -Review and evaluate test results and notify supervisor of any discrepancies. -Assist in observing and evaluating production trials. -Prepare and assist in the evaluation of laboratory trials and compounds. -May perform incoming inspections. -Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. -Associates or Bachelors Degree in a science related field. -Basic computer skills. -Hands on experience in a laboratory setting. -Demonstrated high level of accountability and ownership. -Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory compliance to include but not limited to QSRs, ISO, OSHA, and FDA. -Attention to detail imperative due too improper or unnecessary changes being detrimental to quality. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK REQUIREMENTS: -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands or arms (to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls). The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. -The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and works with toxic or caustic chemicals. -Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception. Employee cannot be color blind. Requires 20/20 vision (corrected). -While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. -The noise level in the work environment is usually low. The Personal Protective Equipment required to perform this job safely includes safety glasses and appropriate shoes. The employee occasionally is required to wear an apron |
